A LITTLE ABOUT ME

My professional experience includes working as a teacher and counselor in elementary schools settings and overseas with orphans and sex-trafficked children. These experiences have given me a heart for the wounded child that lives in many of us, even as adults. My counseling experience also extends to working with several residential programs for young woman and helping them overcome life controlling issues and severe trauma histories.

I have experience working with children, teens, families, women and individuals in therapy. The type of issues I have worked with include: anxiety, co-dependency, challenges of parenting, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, grief, identity Issues, self-esteem, self harm, spiritual issues, sexual trauma, trauma & PTSD. I have been trained to use EMDR for Trauma in my practice.

I desire a safe place for others to find hope, healing and transformation. My heart is to see brokenness, and pain transformed into a new life of healing, joy and healthy relationships with others. I have a passion for seeing people freed from negative thoughts and emotions that cripple them from fulfilling their life purpose. I believe that once people find healing and wholeness they can in turn fulfill their destiny to use the gifts and passions they have to contribute to the community at large. I live in the country, where I still love to prepare the garden and trees for harvest on my father’s mandarin ranch.

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy

My newer passion is Equine Assisted Psychotherapy.  I have been around horses for many years, which began with my daughter’s passion for horses.  Recently, I have dived into the commitment of horse ownership and have a draft horse named Grace, and two wild mustangs Daisy and Buckeye from the Wild Horse Sanctuary (https://wildhorsesanctuary.org) that I am working on gentling.  I am continuing to educate myself by doing training in Trauma Focused Equine Assisted Psychotherapy in working with Natural Lifemanship (https://naturallifemanship.com) that began in 2017.  I am in the process of creating the ability to have clients work with my horses and will keep you updated when therapy on the ranch becomes available.

I truly love the power of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and how it touches pain, struggle, relationship issues and trauma in a way no other therapeutic modality can.  Equine Assisted Psychotherapy far reaches places of pain or disunity with self or others that have no words and can only be met with a safe presence and a powerful healing experience horses generously offer.
